Consultant – Green Supplement to National AfCFTA Implementation Strategies for Equatorial Guinea

Its African Trade Policy Centre (ATPC) provides technical assistance, policy advice, and capacity-building to help countries leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and regional trade opportunities.

The ATPC supports national governments and regional economic communities (RECs) in integrating trade, climate, and green development priorities into their policy frameworks, helping Africa achieve inclusive and sustainable growth. Job Description:
This consultancy focuses on developing a Green Supplement to national AfCFTA Implementation Strategies for Equatorial Guinea. The Green Supplement aims to identify priority actions for green value chains and climate adaptation, enhancing the country’s capacity to pursue sustainable trade opportunities under the AfCFTA.

The consultant will work closely with a regional lead consultant and national counterparts to ensure the supplement reflects local realities and priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection:
    • Gather national-level documents, statistics, and studies on trade, environment, and value chains.
    • Compile information on policies, regulations, and standards relevant to green trade and climate adaptation.
  • Stakeholder Mapping & Engagement:
    • Identify key stakeholders including government agencies, private sector actors, SMEs, women-led businesses, regulators, and AfCFTA committees.
    • Facilitate interviews, surveys, and focus group discussions.
  • Support Consultations:
    • Assist in planning and conducting national workshops and field missions.
    • Document stakeholder inputs and summarize findings for integration into the Green Supplement.
  • Reporting:
    • Submit a comprehensive report detailing collected data, consultations held, and key findings.
    • Provide feedback on draft sections of the Green Supplement from a national perspective.
  • Ad-hoc Support:
    • Respond to additional requests from ATPC or the regional consultant related to the assignment.

Educational Qualification:

  • Advanced degree in Economics, Trade Policy, Environmental Studies, or a related field.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in trade policy, environmental issues, or economic development.
  • Strong knowledge of national trade and environmental policies is required.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage short-term deliverables.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and analytical skills.
  • Fluency in French is required; knowledge of English is an advantage.

Job Location:

  • Remote work from home with coordination with ATPC and national stakeholders in Equatorial Guinea.

Employment Type and Duration:

  • Short-term consultancy for 1.5 months, with full responsibility for delivering key outputs within the period.
