Job Description
The Education Officer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing education program activities that ensure children have access to inclusive, safe, and quality learning opportunities.

The role provides technical guidance, monitors program quality, and ensures alignment with Ethiopian education policies, donor requirements, and organizational standards.

Key responsibilities include school and community coordination, inclusive education promotion, monitoring accelerated learning programs, overseeing remedial classes, and strengthening child protection and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) initiatives.

The Education Officer also supervises education field staff, coordinates with MEAL teams, and ensures accurate data collection and reporting for informed programmatic decisions.

Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Educational Planning, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field.

Additional training or certifications in child protection, inclusive education, or accelerated learning programs are desirable.

Work Experience
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in education program management.

Experience working with schools, education offices, and communities.

Experience in inclusive education, community mobilization, and child protection initiatives is essential.

Experience with donor-funded projects is an advantage.

Required Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of inclusive education and special needs support.

Experience with Accelerated Learning Programs and remedial education.

Understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and school safety principles.

Capacity to lead and supervise education field staff, including Technical Assistants and Tutorial Teachers.

Community engagement, facilitation, and mobilization skills.

Analytical and critical thinking for monitoring student performance, attendance, and program impact.

Ability to develop and deliver training sessions for teachers, PTAs, and community leaders.

Ability to work under pressure and adapt to field conditions.

Technical and Computer Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data tracking, monitoring, and reporting.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

Experience using digital data collection tools such as KoboToolbox or Google Forms.

Ability to visualize and analyze education data to inform program decisions.

Language Skills
Fluent in spoken Afaan Oromo for school and community engagement.

Strong English skills for reporting, documentation, and professional communication.

West Hararghe Zone, Chiro Town, Ethiopia

Employment Type and Salary
Full-time, fixed-term, project-based contract.

Initial duration: 6 months, with potential extension based on performance and funding.

Gross monthly salary: 60,000–70,000 ETB (fixed to current USD exchange rate).
