Job Description
The Livelihood Officer leads the planning, coordination, supervision, and quality assurance of livelihood and women’s economic empowerment interventions.

The role ensures that income-generating activities, savings groups, and economic strengthening supports are well designed, implemented, and monitored for results.

The officer works closely with community structures, technical assistants, and local stakeholders to ensure interventions are aligned with project goals and donor standards.

This position directly contributes to building household resilience, promoting financial inclusion, and supporting women’s economic independence.

The Livelihood Officer will guide beneficiaries to select appropriate income-generating activities based on skills, market opportunities, and risk assessments.

You will oversee the formation and strengthening of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and support savings and loan systems at community level.

The role also includes supervising field teams, reviewing reports, identifying risks, and taking corrective action to improve performance.

By strengthening livelihoods, this role helps families withstand shocks and build sustainable futures.

This position offers strong professional growth, exposure to integrated development programs, and leadership experience in community-based projects.

Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Management, Agriculture, Development Studies, Rural Development, or a related field from a recognized institution.

Additional training in livelihoods, small business development, or community facilitation is an advantage.

Work Experience
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in livelihoods, economic strengthening, or community development programs.

Experience working with vulnerable women or low-income households is essential.

Prior experience with SHGs, VSLAs, or women-focused livelihood programs is highly desirable.

Required Skills and Competencies
Strong understanding of income-generating activities and small business support.

Excellent facilitation and community engagement skills.

Ability to supervise field teams and ensure quality implementation.

Field Office, West Hararghe Zone, Chiro Town, Ethiopia

Employment Type and Salary
Full-time, fixed-term, project-based contract.

Initial duration is 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding.

Gross monthly salary ranges from 60,000 to 70,000 ETB, fixed to the current USD exchange rate.

Additional benefits include phone communication package, medical insurance for the employee and eligible dependents, and a monthly transportation allowance.
