The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) is inviting qualified candidates to apply for the position of Senior Livelihood and Resilience Officer. The role focuses on leading and coordinating livelihood, natural resource management, and climate resilience interventions under the Livelihoods for Resilience (L4R) project, ensuring alignment with donor requirements, ERCS guidelines, and community needs.
Key Responsibilities
Design, plan, and manage livelihood and resilience projects using ToC, LogFrame, and S.M.A.R.T. approaches. Provide technical leadership on climate change adaptation, climate-smart agriculture, food security, and nature-based solutions. Lead vulnerability and capacity assessments, early warning systems, and conflict-sensitive programming. Oversee implementation of agriculture, livestock, NRM, IGAs, and VSLA activities. Coordinate field teams, supervise distribution of agricultural inputs, and support extension services. Lead community engagement, beneficiary targeting, capacity building, and gender-sensitive approaches. Prepare monthly plans, progress reports, donor reports, and ensure budget forecasting and utilization follow approved plans.
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Crop Science, Natural Resource Management, Climate-Smart Agriculture, Land/Range Management, Rural Development, Agricultural Engineering, Development Studies, or related fields.
Experience & Skills
Minimum 8/6 years of relevant experience in livelihoods for resilience, NRM, climate-smart agriculture, or humanitarian/development projects. Strong experience in project planning, implementation, reporting, and budget management. Proven ability in community coordination, staff capacity building, and stakeholder engagement. Strong communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of gender mainstreaming and integrated programming.
