Job Purpose
The TSFP Officer supports woreda health offices and PHCUs in systematic nutrition screening, active case detection, early referral, and admission of acute malnutrition cases through the Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program. The role focuses on Children under five and Pregnant and Lactating Women, ensuring services align with national protocols and SPHERE standards. The officer also supports Family MUAC piloting, procurement of gap-filling TSFP supplies, job aids, and anthropometric equipment, and ensures integration of TSFP with IYCF and CMAM programs.
Key Responsibilities
• Target and link eligible beneficiaries to the TSFP program
• Support woredas and PHCUs in planning and conducting nutrition screening activities
• Ensure functional referral pathways between communities and health facilities
• Train staff on nutrition screening and referral services
• Ensure health facilities and FDPs are equipped with minimum screening supplies
• Promote community mobilization and sensitization for nutrition screening
• Implement and provide technical support for TSFP food distribution and site preparation
• Support nutritional screening for host communities and IDPs
• Conduct weekly supportive supervision at TSFP sites
• Ensure linkage of OTP discharges, MAM children, and malnourished PLW to TSFP rations
• Ensure availability of job aids and reporting tools at health posts
• Support availability of HEW references, tally sheets, stock control forms, and guidelines
• Strengthen integration of TSFP with IYCF-E and CMAM programming
• Support psychosocial, emotional care, and IYCF promotion and counseling activities
Education and Training
• BSc Degree in Public Health, Clinical Nursing, Nutrition, or related health fields
• Acute Malnutrition 2019 Revised Guideline training
• Revised 2019 IMAM Guideline and IYCF-E training
• Integrated Pharmaceutical Logistics System (IPLS)
• Family MUAC approach and TSFP/MAM training
Professional Experience
• Minimum two years of NGO experience in CMAM programs
• Proven experience in TSFP and BSFP implementation
Preferred Knowledge and Competencies
• Experience managing MAM and SAM cases with or without complications
• Strong CMAM planning, implementation, and monitoring skills
• Experience cascading Family MUAC approach
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure and extended hours
• Flexibility to work in difficult and remote environments
• High integrity, adaptability, emotional stability, and cultural sensitivity
• Strong adherence to World Vision values
Language Requirements
• Fluency in English and Amharic
• Knowledge of local languages is an advantage
