About COOPI:
Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI) is an international Italian NGO established in 1965, working to empower vulnerable communities worldwide. COOPI Ethiopia has been operational since 1995, implementing emergency, relief, and early recovery programs in WASH, food security, nutrition, and protection sectors. Currently, COOPI manages 12 projects in Ethiopia with over 100 staff members.
Position: Field Work Supervisor (Civil/WASH Construction/Rehabilitation)

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning:
- Prepare project activity plans, ToRs, BoQs, and M&E plans with guidance from Project Manager (PM) and WASH Coordinator/Advisor.
- Draft weekly and monthly activity schedules, physical and financial plans.
- Contribute to weekly project meetings and support proposal drafting for new interventions.
Implementation:
- Read and interpret technical drawings, BoQs, and activity files.
- Supervise COOPI masons, plumbers, and contractors during WASH and civil works projects.
- Ensure works follow technical details, local and international standards.
- Monitor field activities, collect data, and prepare weekly/monthly progress reports.
- Support baseline, intermediate, post-monitoring, and end-of-project surveys.
- Assist in organizing internal and donor site visits.
Reporting & External Coordination:
- Maintain communication with local authorities, communities, and NGOs.
- Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support to field teams.
- Support grant closing and donor reporting as requested.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant field supervision experience in civil/WASH construction and rehabilitation.
- Proven ability to manage teams (masons, plumbers) and liaise with authorities and NGOs.
- Fluent in English; Afar language proficiency is a plus.
- Computer literate with strong MS Office skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of ArchiCAD, QGIS, SPHERE Standards, basic hydraulics, and foundation soils.
- Experience in WASH and civil infrastructure construction, including towers, tanks, roofs, and water points.
- Ability to work in stressful environments and under pressure.
