Business Development Associate

Job Summary
The Business Development Associate provides operational and coordination support to the Strategic Growth & Partnerships team. The role includes project coordination (50%) and ensures effective implementation, tracking, and reporting of business development and grant-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination and Tracking

  • Manage day-to-day coordination of awarded and pipeline projects, ensuring timely progress.
  • Maintain project trackers, milestone logs, and dashboards.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Technical, Finance, Operations) and external partners.
  • Ensure timely submission of donor deliverables and compliance documentation.
  • Maintain accurate digital and physical project records.
  • Support logistics for workshops, field visits, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Prepare monthly status summaries for management review.

Proposal Development Support

  • Assemble proposal attachments (profiles, CVs, annexes, budgets).
  • Conduct preliminary eligibility checks and summarize donor requirements.
  • Maintain grant opportunities tracker and highlight priority calls.
  • Support drafting of concept notes and proposal sections.
  • Coordinate internal review processes for timely submissions.

Research and Data Collection

  • Conduct research on funders, donor priorities, and industry trends.
  • Collect and organize data for proposals, reports, and case studies.
  • Maintain an updated evidence and reference library.
  • Assist in developing monitoring indicators and data collection tools.

Team and Stakeholder Coordination

  • Facilitate communication among team members, departments, and stakeholders.
  • Schedule and document meetings; track action items.
  • Represent the organization at meetings and events as delegated.
  • Support departmental reporting and external engagements.

Grant Opportunity Identification and Database Management

  • Identify and categorize new grant opportunities aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Maintain updated grant database with eligibility and deadline details.
  • Conduct preliminary screening for potential grant calls.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Gross Salary: ETB 20,000/month
  • Performance Commission: Up to ETB 15,000/month
  • Grant Success Bonuses for successful applications
  • Full-time office work (Mon–Fri 8:30–17:30, half-day Sat)
  • Occasional travel for projects or donor meetings

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Development Studies, Project Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in project coordination, grants administration, or business development
  • Proven ability to manage multiple trackers, documentation, and complex projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with donor-funded projects
  • Familiarity with donor reporting and compliance
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and project management tools (e.g., Notion)
  • Understanding of the clean energy sector in Ethiopia or the region
  • Experience in strategic communications, research, consultancy, or partnerships
