This position is located at the Treasury Unit of the Finance and Budget Section, under the Division of Administration at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). The Treasury Assistant will report to the Chief of the Unit and the Chief of the Section.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in processing payments to vendors, staff, participants, and others
• Review and verify payment proposals for accuracy, payment method, and destination
• Amend payments in exception queues and prepare payments for timely disbursement
• Take “PAY” action on reviewed and verified payments
• Create payment batches for approval by bank signatories
• Print checks, prepare bank payment and transfer instructions for approval
• Handle payment inquiries and follow up on non-receipt claims
• Review and assist in bank reconciliation, maintain business partner banking records
• Monitor CitiDirect and CashPro platforms for pending payments and corrective actions
• Process payroll and HCM payments, including advances and relocation grants
• Perform other cashier-related tasks and duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; knowledge in accounting, management, or related field desirable
• Minimum five years of experience in accounting, finance, administrative services, management, or related area
• Knowledge of SAP and ERP Umoja is an advantage

Languages:
• Fluency in oral and written English required
• Knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage
