Position Overview

PSI Ethiopia is seeking an experienced National MNCH-N Technical Advisor to lead and support the coordination and monitoring of Maternal, Neonatal, Child, and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (MNCH-N) programs. The Advisor will ensure that all activities align with national priorities and contribute to improving reproductive, maternal, and child health outcomes, particularly in malaria prevention and control.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership and Strategic Guidance

  • Provide high-level expertise in RMNCH-N and malaria interventions, ensuring alignment with national priorities.
  • Lead the development and implementation of RMNCH-N strategies in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH), RHBs, and other partners.
  • Integrate innovative interventions like Smart Pathways and Smart Start into national programs and service delivery.

2. Capacity Building and Knowledge Transfer

  • Identify training needs and deliver capacity-building initiatives for MoH desks, RHB teams, and health providers.
  • Facilitate mentorship and supportive supervision to ensure sustainability of programs.

3. Program Planning, Coordination, and Implementation

  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of RMNCH-N programs, ensuring alignment with national priorities and donor requirements.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of workplans, budgets, and activities.
  • Support the rollout of Village Health Leaders (VHLs) and other community-based structures.

4. Performance Monitoring, Data Use, and Reporting

  • Monitor and evaluate program progress, ensuring adherence to performance indicators.
  • Provide timely updates and reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct supportive supervision and follow up on any performance gaps.

5. Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships

  • Serve as a liaison between PSI, MoH, RHBs, and community-based platforms.
  • Strengthen partnerships with government, NGOs, donors, and community organizations to ensure the sustainability of MNCH-N programs.
Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Medicine, Public Health, Midwifery, Nursing, or related field.
  • Experience: At least 6 years of relevant experience with a master’s degree, or 8 years of experience with a first degree.
  • Strong experience in RMNCH-N and Primary Health Care programs.
  • Proven skills in program coordination, stakeholder management, and policy engagement.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to field locations.
Preferred Skills
  • Hands-on experience with government health systems.
  • Strong communication, training, and mentoring skills.
  • Experience working in malaria programs is a plus.
  • Innovative problem-solving mindset with a focus on sustainable outcomes.
