Project Assistant – NTD Integration into Health System

Job Summary
The Project Assistant supports the integration of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) into primary health care (PHC) systems. The role involves planning, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of integrated NTD activities, ensuring effective implementation of interventions such as MDA campaigns, morbidity management, surveillance, and service integration at regional, zonal, and woreda levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support integration of NTD services into PHC workflows and facility-level operations.
  • Assist in embedding NTD indicators into DHIS2, supervisory checklists, and routine reviews.
  • Facilitate morbidity management, TT services, referral pathways, and follow-up mechanisms.
  • Coordinate and implement field-level activities, including MDA campaigns, integrated outreach, and supervision.
  • Collect, validate, and analyze data; support reporting, data quality assessments, and audits.
  • Maintain strong coordination with government health offices, HEWs, and community stakeholders.
  • Support training, capacity-building, and stakeholder engagement for integrated NTD service delivery.
  • Provide administrative, logistical, and financial support for trainings, supervision, and workshops.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Environmental Health, Health Officer, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–4 years of experience in public health programs, preferably related to NTDs, PHC integration, or disease control.
  • Experience working with government health systems at woreda or facility level.
  • Knowledge of integrated outreach campaigns, surveillance, MDA, TT surgery, or morbidity management is an advantage.
  • Strong communication, coordination, data management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and travel frequently to field sites.
  • Proficiency in local languages relevant to the duty station is desirable.
