Project Officer – Integrating Health System Strengthening

Job Summary
The Project Officer will provide technical assistance and coordination for the Integrated Health System Strengthening (IHSS) project at the subnational level. The role involves supporting health system integration in areas such as Human Resources for Health (HRH), Health Care Financing (HCF), Data, and Leadership & Governance, ensuring achievement of project deliverables, and maintaining collaboration with government and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee project implementation, aligning with regional and woreda health plans.
  • Conduct project review meetings, define objectives, and revise indicators.
  • Coordinate administrative functions including logistics, finance, and procurement.
  • Build strong relationships with government counterparts and other stakeholders.
  • Provide capacity-building support in leadership, governance, HRH, HCF, and health system inputs.
  • Monitor project activities, support data quality assessments, and document lessons learned.
  • Manage budget and ensure compliance with Amref and donor requirements.
  • Support integration with other Amref projects.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Public Health or other health-related disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in health systems strengthening, with expertise in governance, healthcare financing, and health systems inputs.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with government counterparts and stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Fluency in English and at least one local language of the duty station.
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and internet applications.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work within Amref policies and procedures.
