Outbreak Response Clinician

The Outbreak Response Clinician provides clinical care, patient monitoring, infection-prevention support, and outbreak response assistance during Marburg Virus Disease interventions in Jinka. The role works closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective care while coordinating with woreda and regional health authorities.

Responsibilities
Provide technical support to health facilities on MVD case management. Monitor patient vital signs and symptoms, and deliver supportive care according to national protocols. Follow IPC standards, including correct PPE use and safe patient handling. Support safe patient flow, isolation procedures, and decontamination steps. Assist case management centers in managing MVD cases. Support contact-tracing teams with community education when requested. Participate in woreda-level EOC meetings and coordination. Facilitate referrals and ensure timely communication with relevant health offices. Plan outbreak response activities and identify supply needs. Work closely with hygiene promotion teams and WASH partners on prevention activities. Take part in project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Conduct capacity-building training for HEWs, community workers, and local RRTs. Ensure medical supplies are available and communicate gaps to authorities. Document patient conditions and provide health education on prevention and hygiene. Coordinate with local government and partners on outbreak response action plans. Provide compassionate patient care, including end-of-life support when permitted. Submit weekly updates and periodic reports to managers and health offices. Ensure adherence to national guidelines and rational use of medicines. Maintain high-quality, respectful treatment for all patients.

Education
Trained medical officer, nurse, environmental health professional, or related field.

Experience
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in primary healthcare. Practical experience or certification in outbreak response. Experience with INGOs is a plus.

Skills
Knowledge of humanitarian health operations, national and international health systems, and monitoring approaches. Strong communication and project management skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital communication tools. Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and capacity-building skills.

Location
Field-based in Jinka, with frequent travel to health facilities.
