Job Description
The position supports the Strengthening Rural Value Chains II (SRVC II) project under the Economic Transformation Cluster. SRVC II is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented in partnership with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Agriculture. The project focuses on strengthening horticulture, oilseeds and coffee value chains, enhancing private-sector engagement, improving supply chain systems and supporting agricultural policy development. The horticulture component includes additional funding from the Gates Foundation and collaboration with EHPEA.
Responsibilities
Supporting planning and implementation of the horticulture component, including tasks co-funded by the Gates Foundation and coordination with GIZ teams in Kenya and Uganda. Identifying opportunities for horticulture value chain development along the Arba Minch–Hawassa–Addis corridor. Strengthening collaboration with EHPEA, contributing to policy development for private-sector engagement and export systems, implementing capacity development measures, and supporting project events, knowledge management and monitoring activities.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Agriculture, Development Studies, Social Sciences or related fields. Minimum five years’ experience in technical advisory roles within agricultural development. Professional fluency in Amharic and English; knowledge of Oromiffa or Sidama is preferred. Experience in horticulture value chain development, supply chain systems, contract farming, agricultural processing companies and international development cooperation. Experience with Gates Foundation–funded projects, gender-sensitive approaches and digital solutions is an advantage. Strong coordination, analytical and communication skills are required.
Skills
Communication, budgeting, financial management and business development. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook and PowerPoint.
