Project Coordinator

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Project Coordinator for the initiative “Scaling the Last Mile Delivery of Immunization Services: Reaching the Missed Community in Ethiopia.” The role oversees planning, implementation, and coordination of activities aimed at expanding the use of Indigo cold storage backpacks to strengthen vaccine delivery in underserved and hard-to-reach areas. The position ensures alignment with IRC standards, government priorities, and donor requirements, while leading collaboration with the Ministry of Health and regional partners.

The Project Coordinator manages daily operations, supervises deployment of Indigo Backpacks, coordinates research and evaluation activities, leads reporting, and ensures timely progress across project milestones. Responsibilities include organizing workshops and assessments, tracking procurement processes, maintaining detailed project records, and conducting field visits to monitor outreach delivery using the technology. The role also strengthens partnerships with MoH, EFDA, EPSS, EPHI, RHBs, and research institutions, ensuring consistent communication and shared accountability. Additional responsibilities include oversight of operational research, supporting policy translation, contributing to donor reports, and ensuring compliance with financial, ethical, and safeguarding standards.

Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Medicine, or related fields; Master’s degree in Public Health or a related discipline.

Experience Requirements
Minimum 6 years (BSc) or 4 years (MPH/MSc) experience in NGO project coordination, preferably in immunization, cold chain, or vaccine management. Proven ability to manage multi-partner initiatives, lead field teams, coordinate logistics, and work with MoH and donor-funded programs. Strong background in planning, reporting, operational oversight, and stakeholder engagement is essential. Familiarity with Ethiopia’s EPI system, cold chain logistics, and government import processes is required.

Skills and Competencies
Strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills. Excellent communication and report-writing ability. Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools. Ability to manage complex timelines, maintain partnerships, and support change management. Experience in facilitation, documentation, and problem-solving across diverse teams.

Languages
Fluency in English and Amharic; additional local languages are an advantage.
