About the Role:
The Regional Seed System Coordinator leads the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of seed insecurity response programs under the Ethiopia Seed Partnership Plus (ESP+) in the region. The role focuses on strengthening local seed systems, supporting local seed businesses and community seed banks, facilitating trainings, building stakeholder networks, and ensuring resilient seed access in shock/stress-prone areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Map stakeholders and engage humanitarian and development partners for collective action on seed insecurity.
- Conduct Seed Security System assessments and facilitate participatory variety selection and deployment.
- Organize technical trainings, workshops, field days, seed fairs, and experience-sharing events.
- Facilitate sub-grants and support local seed producers and implementing partners.
- Strengthen local seed systems, access to early-generation seeds, and B2B seed marketing networks.
- Monitor program outputs and outcomes, compile reports, and assess risk factors.
- Ensure integration of GEDSI (gender, equality, diversity, and social inclusion) principles.
- Provide technical guidance and supervision to partners and local seed actors.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Production, Seed Science & Technology, Agricultural Economics, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in humanitarian and development contexts.
- Strong knowledge of Ethiopian farming and seed systems, including seed insecurity response.
- Experience in participatory variety selection, stakeholder engagement, and program management.
- Fluency in English and Somali (regional language).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
